Behaviour Policy

The Policy and Rationale

Discipline and expectations concerning behaviour are important for the safety and protection of the students, staff, visitors and the environment. We do not accept students who exhibit bad behaviour and we reserve the right to discipline or to expel students who exhibit such behaviour. Such behaviour may include aggression, insolence, ignoring instructions, failing to participate in class, vandalism, continued fidgeting or any other behaviour that disrupts the class.

By following the guidelines in this policy, the SSE can guarantee a first rate education for students who are here to learn.

Student Expectations

•  An optimum learning environment requires that procedures are followed:
•  Students must be polite and respectful to staff, adults and each other at all times;
•  Children are expected to be on time for class;
•  Disruptive behaviour by students throughout the school will not be tolerated;
•  Damage to materials or property must be paid for. Any student found to be maliciously damaging property belonging to SSE may be also be expelled and refused further enrolment;
•  The SSE has a zero tolerance to bullying;

•  Students may not touch any materials on the tables, bookcases or desks without the teacher’s permission;
•  No students may leave the classroom without permission from the teacher;
•  Ball playing and running outside is prohibited. The outside area is for sitting and standing only;
•  Eating during class is not permitted;
•  Noise in the reception area and outside common area should be kept to a minimum;
•  ALL course materials provided in class are for the exclusive use of the individual student only. These materials may not be lent or reproduced. Students found to be supplying materials to other coaching schools, to any educational establishment, or to any other third party will be instantly dismissed from the SSE and legal action will commence;

Student Disciplinary Procedures

The following steps will be applied for students who breach this policy:

1.  A verbal warning (Teacher)

2.  A discussion with the student’s parent or guardian (Teacher or Administrator)

3.  A letter to the parent or guardian (Teacher or Administrator)

4.  Expulsion from the school (Principal or Nominee and Parent or Guardian)

The class teacher is responsible for the initial discipline of students who misbehave.
